Firefoxed

Now, I’ve played around with Firefox in the past, but I’ve never been as desperate as my Internet Explorer lovin’ counterparts to make the immediate switch. I’ve been mostly pleased with the work that Apple has done on Safari. However, after reading Wired’s recent article on the Firefox browser, I’d thought I’d give it another try. Unfortunately, neither Firefox nor Apple has made it easy to import/export your bookmarks between the two. Fortunately, a commenter on the mozillaZine forums has given us the How-To. I’ve copied the instructions for your viewing pleasure.

First you must have the “Debug Menu” enabled for Safari. If you haven’t already, here’s how:

There is an option on the “Debug Menu” to export Safari’s bookmarks. They are exported as a “Netscape-type HTML Bookmark File”. Save the file somewhere convenient.

Open Firefox. Now click through these options in Firefox:

Bookmarks > Manage Bookmarks > File > Import

In the dialog box “Import Bookmarks From” check the radio button next to “From File”. Now make the path to where you saved your Safari Bookmark File.
